Fallout of Bollywood`s business partners

Fallout of Bollywood`s business partners

It is said that there are no permanent friends or enemies in Bollywood. And unfortunately it is something the industry's most popular business jodis would attest to these days.

Their friendships gave us praiseworthy films, but now some of the industry's thickest work buddies are falling out for one reason or the other.

Farhan Akhtar- Ritesh Sidhwani
Their first film Dil Chahta Hai changed the rules of storytelling in Bollywood. They went on to give us some very entertaining films like Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya, Don, Rock On and Luck by Chance.

School friends-turned-business buddies, their 12-year-old partnership stood the test of time, up till their film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara happened.

Buzz is that the two had some serious creative differences during the making of the film and that's when cracks started to show. Though Ritesh has always let Farhan take the front seat when it comes to promotions, during Don 2, Sidhwani kept away quite often.

Says a source, "They have had creative differences on many occasions, but now the problem is that Farhan has become a lot busier with his acting projects. So there is less time to focus on production. So that could be the reason a communication gap has developed between the two."

However, when asked about the rift Farhan vehemently denied it. At a recent event he was quoted saying, "I don't understand where these rumours come from. We cannot appear at every event together. For the record there isn't any problem between us. We are working together and happy with each other."

Saif Ali Khan- Dinesh Vijan
Long time business associates, Saif and Dinesh started their company Illuminati films in 2009. Their first film Love Aaj Kal was one of the biggest hits of 2009. However, despite that just within two years they have decided to go separate ways.

They apparently had too many difference of opinions and hence decided to take a break from working together. Says a source, "Any partnership is a commitment, but that does not mean everything has to be hunky dory always.

If the partnership is between two opinionated people there will be healthy arguments. However, with Saif and Dinesh things don't look very pleasant at the moment. Even during the promotions of Agent Vinod, they have not been seen interacting much with each other."

As a result, Saif will now own his individual company under the name of Saif Ali Khan Productions and Dinesh too will be working on films under his production. Saif was recently quoted saying, "We are not married to each other, but we will definitely continue working together whenever possible.

We have quite a few offers to make films together. But we will also be producing films independently." At the moment they have Agent Vinod and Cocktail, which they would be producing together.

Tiffs over the years
Salim - Javed: Their work together is often referred to as the Bible of scriptwriting within Hindi cinema. Roping in Salim-Javed to write a film was in fact the perfect formula for an assured blockbuster. However after 15-years of working together and giving us innumerable gems including Sholay and Deewaar, they split for reasons unknown. Rumours were that there was a major misunderstanding that involved Amitabh Bachchan but no one has clarified that.

Vikram Bhatt - The Bhatts: Vikram Bhatt had stopped working for uncles Mahesh and Mukhesh Bhatt's Vishesh films in 2003 due to some personal misunderstandings regarding then girlfriend Ameesha Patel. But now he seems to have buried the hatchet. He is back after nine years to direct Raaz 3 under their family's production house.

Jatin - Lalit: After working together for almost 16-years, brothers Jatin and Lalit split in 2006 due to financial reasons.

Sanjay Dutt - Sanjay Gupta: The two made many films together under their production house White Feather Films till 2007. However, post Shootout at Lokhandwala there was a major misunderstanding between Dutt and Gupta about payment dues for the technicians.

Nadeem - Shravan: This musical duo ruled the 90s with their music, but were together no longer post Nadeem's alleged underworld connections and Shravan's disinterest in continuing with his musical career.
